This is a portrait of my Dad. He lost most of his hearing while in the Navy. They were testing some sort of guns on the deck of a submarine during freezing rain and his eardrums broke and then froze. He loved music and had played many instruments before losing his hearing. He spent a year in the hospital in Washington DC and tried all kinds of different treatment to try to restore his hearing. Nothing worked. I often wonder how different his life may have been if this never happened. I chose to add various colors to his face. Color, to me, is like visual music. I think he would have loved this piece. Daddy, I Love You!
